"Black belt. Karate. Think about that before you try to mess
with another girl," she said letting go of him. She looked back at the other
men and smiled; they all got up quickly and scurried away. She went over and
picked up her coat, but it was of no use now since it had gotten ripped due to
the thorn bush it was laying on. She turned around and faced an Arnav who was
standing a few feet away from her with a surprised expression; his eyes
wide, eyebrows raised and mouth slightly open.
To say that Arnav was in shock and completely surprised was an understatement. He opened his mouth to say something, but closed it when nothing came out. He repeated this a few times while Khushi walked towards him.
"Shocked?" Khushi asked him lifting an eyebrow.
"Very," Arnav replied back. Both of them turned around and started walking towards the car.
"Well it's not every day you see a girl down a group of drunk guys in the middle of the night," Arnav said kicking a rock that was in front of him.
"Yea, that is true," Khushi said slightly shivering. Arnav noticed that her coat was ripped and on top of that her dress was only on strap. He took off his coast and put it over her shoulders.
"Ar...Arn...Arnav you're going to get a cold," Khushi said trying to take the coat off but Arnav stopped her.
"Khushi I'm fine, just wear it or else you're going to get a cold," Arnav said. Arnav opened the door for Khushi then went to his side of the car and drove off.
"It's so beautiful here," Khushi said looking out the window as it slightly started snowing.
"Yea, it is a very beautiful city," Arnav said. Arnav reached Maan's house and parked the car. The servants came and took out their shopping bags, "I'll go put them in your room Sir."
"Ok, thanks," Arnav said getting out of the car. Khushi got out also and followed him towards the front door. The house had been decorated with Christmas decorations; wraths were hanging around, mistletoe hanging from the ceilings and a Christmas tree. When they entered the house, they found Maan and Geet in the living room looking at photo albums.
"Oh you guys are here," Maan said looking up at them.
"Come here and sit with us," Geet said moving over a bit giving them room to sit. Khushi went and sat by Maan, and Arnav sat across from her next to Geet.
"What are you guys doing?" Arnav asked.
"Oh we were just going through our old pictures," Maan said.
"Aw, you guys were so cute," Khushi told Maan and Geet seeing a picture of them during their college days. She looked through the pictures and found that a lot of them were from their high school and college days.
"Who's this?" Khushi said looking at a picture of a girl who was standing beside Arnav.
Maan glanced at the picture she was looking at and said, "Oh, that's Sheetal."
"Sheetal?" Khushi said. The girl had on a very short dress that barely covered any part of her body than just the necessities.
"Yea we went to the same college with her, she's the sister of a friends of ours," Arnav said, "But no one ever liked her."
"But she was totally crazy after Arnav, always trying to catch his attention and getting close with him," Maan said.Khushi flipped the page and found a picture of Sheetal hugging Arnav. She looked up and glanced towards Arnav. Both Geet and Maan noticed the jealousy that was inside Khushi at the momentShe flipped through some of the other pages and found pictures of them together also. Geet left for the kitchen to tell the servants to set the dinner
"Why are you guys looking through old pictures?" Arnav said picking up a few pictures from the stack that was on the table.
"Geet says we have too many and we should throw away the ones we don't need," Maan said lying. The truth was that it had been Geet's idea to show the pictures to Khushi so that she would slightly get jealous.
"And you definitely get rid of them by starting with the chudails pictures first," Khushi muttered to herself but only Maan heard it. He laughed to himself.
"Did you say something?" Arnav asked.
"Khushi was saying that'." Maan started off but Khushi stomped her heel on his foot before he could continue.
"OUCH!" he said.
"What happened?!" Arnav asked.
"Nothing nothing," Maan managed to say and looking up at Khushi who only smiled back.
"Dinners ready!" Geet yelled from the kitchen. They all got up to sit at the table and started eating.
"So what's the plan for tomorrow?" Arnav asked Maan.
"Well first tomorrow we're going to be exchanging gifts," Maan said.
"So should we wrap the ones we got?" Khushi asked.
"Yea, and here are the names of the people who are coming so you can write names tonight, and then just put them under the tree" Geet said handing her piece of paper.
"So this like Christmas when we were younger? Right?!" Khushi said excitedly.
"Yea, yea. We both know how excited you used to get during Christmas," Maan said laughing at Khushi.
"Are you making fun of me?" Khushi asked gawking.
"No. We were just telling," Geet said smiling.
"Haha, sure," Khushi said sarcastically.
"Ok, so after that we're just going to be hanging around the house, chilling and whatever everyone wants to do," Maan said.
"And then at night there's a party, then a family/friend dinner," Geet said.
"Sounds fun," Arnav said finishing his food. They all chatted for some more time and the servants took away their plates after they were done.
"We'll see you guys tomorrow," Maan said standing up, "Geet and me have to go finish packing the gifts."
"Ok bye," Arnav and Khushi said. Maan and Geet left for their rooms.
"Should we pack the ones we got also?" Khushi asked while Arnav and her went up the stairs.
"Yea we should," Arnav said, "I'll bring my bags to your room, so we can wrap them together."
Khushi went to her room and quickly looked through the bags, she removed the thing she needed to remove and went to put it in her cupboard. Right when she closed it, Arnav walked in.
"What are doing?" he asked
"N..no...nothing," Khushi said. But Arnav still found something fishy in that.
Arnav came in with the bags and placed them on her bed. They spent the next hour just wrapping gifts and talking to each other.
"Khushi give me the receipt for all the things you bought," Arnav said.
"R..rec..receipts?" Khushi asked hesitantly.
"Yea, receipts," Arnav said.
"But why?" Khushi said.
"Because I want to see how much it all was'" Arnav said.
"Oh...ok'" Khushi said and pulled out her purse.
"Here," she said giving it to him. Arnav looked at the receipt and noticed that there were 4 things on there, and four things that she had bought. He took the receipt and put it in his back pocket.
"Ok, goodnight," Khushi said picking up all the paper and trash that was on her bed.
"Goodnight, see you tomorrow," Arnav said walking out the door and closing it behind him.
"Phew, that was a close one," Khushi sighed in relief to herself. She changed and went to sleep; while Arnav put the gifts under the tree, then came back to his room and slept.
