Chapter 19: Ruining the Moment

"YOU?!" Khushi exclaimed looking at Maan.

"YOU?!" Maan exclaimed back at her.

"TUM?!" came a loud voice from behind Maan. Arnav just stood there confused wondering what was even happening.

Khushi ran past Arnav and launched herself at Maan to hug him. Even if it was just his best friend, Arnav felt anger rising up inside him seeing someone else so close to her. Maan chuckled and hugged her back, "How are you?" he asked pulling out of the hug.

"I'm good. How are you and Geet?" she asked.

"Hum teek hai," came a reply from behind and she turned around to find Geet standing there.

"GEET!!" Khushi said and hugged her.

"I've missed you so much!" Geet told Khushi.

"Same," Khushi said.

"Um'someone explain to me what is happening'?" Arnav asked looking between the three of them with a confused expression.

"Arnav remember when I told you that I knew of someone named Maan, but couldn't remember," Khushi said and Arnav nodded.

"Well when I was younger, Geet and me went to the same school and were best friends," Khushi said.

"What do you mean WERE?! We still ARE best friends," Geet interjected.

"Yea, yea, we still are," Khushi said smiling at her.

"After school, Geet ended up going away to study and happened to meet Maan," Khushi said looking at Maan, "The had been together since and have come a few times to visit me in India after they got married."

"So you all know each other?" Arnav asked trying to clarify the situation.

"Yea, Khushi is like a sister-in-law to me," Maan said side hugging Khushi, "Best friend of my wife."

Arnav felt relief wash over himself when Maan said that she was like a sister-in-law to him. There wasn't anything between them.

"But I didn't know you started working for my best friend," Maan said looking back at Khushi.

"Yea, that only started only like a week ago," Khushi said.

"Well at least we can spend time together with that excuse," Geet said excitingly. All four of them sat at the table to start eating. Khushi and Geet caught up with their lives and talked the entire time they were eating. Maan was on an important phone call, when it was done he looked up at Arnav and found him smiling. He followed his trance of sight and noticed he was staring at Khushi. He looked at Khushi and noticed that she would also look at Arnav ever so often and blush a little. Oh ho so there's something going on between the two, Maan thought to himself. He would have to tell Geet about this so they could do something about it.

After breakfast was over, Arnav got up so they could leave for the office and prepare for the fashion show.

"Khushi, let's go," he said looking up at her.

"Yea, let's go. I'm going to go get my coat," she said and went up the stairs to get it. She came down a few minutes later and they started walking out.

"Arnav!" Maan called out while he was leaving.

"Yea?" he asked looking back at him.

"Make sure you take the entire day off tomorrow if you already haven't," Maan said,

"Why?" he asked.

"It's Christmas tomorrow and we have small get together with friends tomorrow morning for exchanging gifts, and then a party at night with a dinner after that," Maan said.

"Ok, I will take the day off," Arnav said.

"And when you come back home later, we may not be home because we are going to finish our Christmas shopping today," Maan told him.

"Who all is coming to the party? So then we can also get presents for them'" Arnav said pointing between him and Khushi. Maan smiled at the way he said it, 'so WE can also get presents for them,' and decided to tease them a bit.

"We Arnav?" Maan asked lifting his eyebrow.

"I meant as in Khushi and me," Arnav said, "''because she doesn't really know anyone from here so we could just gift it together'"

"Oh. Well I'll text you a list of the people later," Maan said.

"Ok, then we'll just stop on our way back from the office at the mall," Arnav said and walked out with Khushi following him.

"Maan," Geet said getting up to stand by him, "There's something going on between them, I think," she said putting a hand on his shoulder.

"Hmm. I also think that, we're going to have to do something about it," Maan said side hugging his wife.

*At Office*

"How are the preparations going?" Arnav said walking into the office and asking a staff member.

"Sir they are going well. Final touches are being made," someone replied.

"Great, Khushi you help assist them," Arnav said to Khushi and walked up to his office. Khushi went and helped getting all the designs in order, and ready for the fashion show. All the arrangements were done and complete by the end of the day. Arnav looked at the time and thought they should leave so they could stop at the mall. He checked his phone and saw that Maan had sent him the list his friends that were going to be at the party. He got up and walked over to the cabin Khushi was working in.

"Khushi, we're done with everything and can leave," Arnav said. Khushi picked up all her things and followed him out.

"It snowed so much!" Khushi said excitedly as they stepped out of the office.

"Khushi walk carefully, the snow turned into ice so it's very slippery," Arnav said from behind her.

"Arnav it's not like I'm a child or anything," Khushi said looking back at him and still walking forward and Arnav's eyes widened. He quickly leaped forward and tried to grab her before she ran into the big pile of snow, but ended up slipping on the ice also and collided with her.

Khushi ended up colliding with the pile of snow and noticed Arnav coming towards her, she grabbed the front of his shirt for support. But since he also slipped on the ice, Khushi ending up taking Arnav down with her also.

"AH!" Khushi yelled as she felt Arnav's weight on top of her. She felt his breath on her neck as his face was buried in the crook of her neck. Arnav lifted his face up and looked at her. He face was glowing against the color of the snow that lay next to her and she looked beautiful. He pushed a strand of hair behind her ear. Her eyes wandered over his face, questioning him what he was doing. Arnav ran his fingers over her cheeks and Khushi felt a shiver due to the coolness of his hand. He cupped her cheek and wandered his eyes over her face. Khushi felt his face moving closer to hers and she closed her eyes. Arnav was slowing moving towards her and then all of a suddenly he felt something very cold hit against his cheek.

"WHAT THE?!" he said looking at Khushi to find her giggling. He touched his cheek and felt that it was wet and looked back at Khushi. Khushi quickly pushed him off of her, so he now lay beside her. She got up and ran away. It took awhile for him to understand that she had just hit him with a snowball while he was attempting to kiss her. Way to ruin a romantic moment Khushi Kumari Gupta, Arnav thought to himself. He got up and dusted the snow off of himself. He bent over grabbing some snow and rolled it into a ball. He held it behind his back and walked towards her.

Khushi tried to open the door of the car but it was locked. She turned around to see Arnav walking towards her.

"Arnav open the door! It's freezing cold!" she yelled.

"So now it's cold? Huh? How about when you hit me with a snowball?" Arnav asked.

"Arnav please just hurry up!?" Khushi whined. Arnav removed his hands from behind his back revealing the snowball and looked up at Khushi with a smirk. Khushi looked at the snowball in his hands then up at the expression on his face.

"Arnav. No! Stay away!" Khushi said backing up against the car.

"No what Khushi?" he asked innocently only about two feet away from her.

"Don't you dare throw that at me!" she said with her back no completely against the car.
