"No Khushi, it's okay. You can eat with me, we've been busy for quite a long time," Arnav said, not knowing why he was even offering. Anjali noticed this; her brother was never this nice to anyone before, what had gotten into him.
"Okay bye, I'll get going now," Anjali said and was about to leave, when something caught her eye.
She noticed that there were bangels on Khushi's wrists. Anjali could've sworn that she had seen them before. But where? They looked so familiar. Then suddenly Anjali realized that those were the same ones that were on the wrists of the girl who's picture was in the newspaper with Chotte this morning.
That means that the girl was KHUSHI?! Hmm Anjali thought. They do make a good couple and I would love to have her as my bhabhi. Anjali decided to tease them while they were eating.
"Khushiji, I called you a few times last night but you didn't pick up, were you busy?" Anjali asked with a mischievous smile.
Khushi felt herself choking on her food; Arnav stopped his spoon midway while he was eating and looked up at his sister. Arnav and Khushi quickly looked up at each other and motioned her to say anything about them of last night. None of this was unnoticed by Anjali. She smiled a bit inside.
"Woh...Di, I ...I...probably has gone to sleep by then," Khushi managed to say.
"Achha?" Anjali asked lifting her eyebrow a little bit and tilting her head to the side.
"Di, shouldn't you be leaving by now?" Arnav asked his sister trying to avoid the conversation.
"Oh ho, so my brother will no tell me when I should come and leave the office," Anjali asked trying to sound offended.
"Di, you know I didn't mean that... I was thinking maybe you wanted to meet Jijaji before you leave," Arnav said.
"Yea, I will. Bye, see you at home," Anjali said and walked out.
Arnav leaned back on his chair and sighed a breath of relief, "Good thing she didn't find out."
"Why don't you want her to find out?" Khushi asked
"Well...she saw the picture in the newspaper this morning and I think she was getting a bit suspicious about you," Arnav replied
"Are you trying to say that you have a problem with being seen in public with me," Khushi asked slightly offended.
"NO! No! Absolutely not," Arnav said taken aback by her question.
"Then...?" Khushi asked
"It's just that if the media actually did find out that it was you, they wouldn't stop following you everywhere and trying to find every single piece about your life; which is really annoying. I personally don't like it when people do that about me, so I try to keep my life private," Arnav said
"Oh," Khushi said. They continued with their work after finishing their lunch. Khushi went home in her car at the end of the day, and so did Arnav.
*Next Day*
Arnav walked into office and went up to his cabin. He stopped outside her back, put his head in there and said, "Khushi, get me a cup off coffee."
"Yes Sir, how do you want it?" Khushi said getting up to make her way to the cafeteria.
Arnav heard his phone ring and noticed it was an important call, "Just ask one of the employees," he hurriedly said, taking the call and heading to his office.
Khushi went down to the cafeteria; she didn't know anyone here and didn't know who to ask. Khushi looked through all the coffee blends and flavors and wasn't sure which one Arnav wanted.
She noticed another employee and decided to ask her, "Hey, my name is Khushi. I'm new here and Sir wanted me to get coffee for him, do you by any chance know what he drinks?"
Natasha looked at her from up and down. So she was the new girl here? She thought. And it was her first day? She smiled inwardly to herself, perfect way to get her in trouble.
"Yea, sure," Natasha said, "He likes his coffee to be black with 3 teaspoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of creamer."
"Thank you," Khushi replied and went to make the coffee. After she was done, she made her way up to his cabin. Leaving behind a smiling Natasha who just couldn't wait to see all the drama that would occur in the next few minutes. This new girl would definitely get fired, she thought. But she was unaware of a pair of eyes that were watching her.
Khushi reached out his cabin and knocked, "Come in," came a reply from inside the room.
"Sir, your coffee," Khushi said holding the tray in her hands.
"Put it on the table and you can get back to work," Arnav said while reading a file. Khushi put the cup down and left to her cabin.
Khushi was typing on her computer when she heard, "KHUSHI!!" She felt herself jump a bit back at Arnav's harsh tone. She quickly got up and went into his cabin.
"Ye..yes Sir," she said hesitantly scared of Arnav's anger. Arnav looked up at Khushi with some anger in his eyes, "Is this what I pay you for?! You can't even do your job correctly!" he blurted out.
"B..b..but what happened," Khushi asked
"Stop acting like you don't know anything, this time I'm not gonna make it such a big deal, but don't ever repeat it again Now GET OUT!!" Arnav said
"But Sir what.." Khushi started off only to be interrupted by him again, "Didn't you hear me? I SAID GET OUT!! NOW!"
Khushi could feel the tears in her eyes rising, but before they fell she quickly turned around to go back to her cabin. On her way out she bumped into Aman.
"Sorry," she said without even looking up at him and ran out.
"Arnav..." Aman started off.
"Jijaji, please don't try to talk to me. I'm already in a bad mood," Arnav said
"Arnav you shouldn't have said that to her..." Aman said
"Jijaji I respect you a lot, but please don't tell me how i should behave with my employees," Arnav said fiercely
"What did she do?" Aman asked.
"I asked her to get me some coffee and she comes back with a cup that has sugar in it. And I'm diabetic. Also it had creamer, which I don't even like," Arnav said
"And did you tell her that you were diabetic...?" Aman asked him trying to make him realize his mistake
"...No," Arnav said, "I had an important call to take her and asked her to ask someone else for what I always had."
"Yea, that's when it all got messed up," Aman said
"What do you mean?" Arnav asked confused
"I was down there when Khushi came down to get your coffee. It wasn't her fault at all. She asked Natasha and she was the one who told Khushi that you like to have 3 teaspoons of sugar in your coffee and a teaspoon of creamer," Aman said.
"Natasha?" Arnav asked
"Yea her," Aman said, "You should go to Khushi and see how she is. You didn't even give her a chance to explain and she looked hurt when she walked out," saying that Aman left his cabin.
Arnav realized all that he had said to her and how he had screamed at her without listening. He groaned to himself and ran his hand through his hair, why did he have to be so rude her? He got up and made his way to her cabin. When Arnav walked in, he noticed her standing by the glass window. He slowly walked up to her, tring not to make any noise. She had zoned out and was looking at the city through the window, but he could see the tears that were making their way down her cheeks through the reflection in the glass.
After Khushi had run out of Arnav's office she went and stood by the glass window. She had tears running down her eyes. No one had yelled at her or been so rude to her in her entire life. So why did he think that he could do that? Why didn't he just listen to her once? For the past few days that she had known him, she had never seen this side of him.
After a few minutes, Khushi wiped the tears off her eyes and decided to get back to work before she got into anymore trouble. She turned around only to bump in to something solid and loose her balance.
