Chapter 26: Promises are Meant to be Fulfilled

"Ok, what time to we have to be at office by?" Khushi asked pulling off her comforter and going to stand by the dresser. She noticed that her hair was open, and all the jewelry was lying there nicely. If she was asleep last night when they got home, that means she couldn't have taken it all off, leaving her Arnav being the only person to do that. She looked up at him with questioning eyes.

"The fashion show starts at 7, we have to be in office by 2 for final rehearsal and everything," he said smiling and motioned at the dresser, "And yea, I did all that." He said and walked out of the room after winking at her.

Khushi quickly got ready and chose a blue lace dress to wear; then headed downstairs for breakfast.
When she arrived at the table, Maan and Arnav were getting seated while Geet was walking in from the kitchen. Khushi took the seat next to Arnav and started eating her breakfast. Geet also joined them after placing all the food on the table.

"So Khushi how are you feeling?" Maan asked her while drinking his coffee.

"Better than last night, I don't really know what happened though," Khushi said looking up at him.

"Did you happen to eat something weird or strange?" Geet asked her.

"Not that I know of. All I drank was a glass of juice that Sheetal gave to me," Khushi replied back.

Arnav stopped eating his breakfast midway as he heard Sheetal's name, there was something definitely up with her. She never did anything unless it would benefit her in any way. He quickly finished his breakfast and said, "Khushi let's go."

They both got up to leave and Arnav turned towards Maan and Geet, "The show starts at 7 o'clock so you both better be there on time."

"Ok, we will be," Maan said replying back with a smile.
Arnav and Khushi walked out of the house and got into the car. As they drove to the hall where the fashion show was to take place, Khushi noticed that Arnav's face was tensed. Most of the car ride was filled with silence, but Khushi decided to break it.

"Arnav is something wrong?" she asked looking up at him. Arnav was lost in his thoughts and now her voice broke him out of the trance.

"No, why do you ask?" He said glancing at her for awhile then back at the road.

"It's just that you seem very tensed ever since breakfast," Khushi said.

"It's nothing to worry about, just leave it," Arnav said parking his car into the parking lot. He got out of the car and then opened Khushi's door also. She stepped out of the car, and then bent back into the car to pick up her purse, giving him a full view of her back. Arnav hadn't realized how good she looked in her dress till now; the lace was hugging her body completely, making her figure very visible. Her hair was in a high ponytail, making her back very visible through lace. Khushi closed the door of the car then turned around to find him staring at her.

"What happened?" she asked.

And moved a few steps forward, pushing her against the car with both hands on either side of her. Khushi felt her body getting warmer as he approached her. Arnav moved his hand up and pulled the clip out of her, making it cascade down her back. Khushi's hand went up to touch her hair and feel it; she looked up at him with a confused expression.

"It's better now," he replied back with a smirk. He leaned in and pecked her right cheek, then held her hand to walk towards the building. They walked inside and the receptionist showed them where the fashion show was taking place and moved them towards the back rooms.
Once reaching there, they saw that everyone was there. The models were getting ready and the designers were putting final finishing touches on their dresses. Arnav received a call, so he stepped aside to receive it. Khushi went and helped some of the preparations to be made. Arnav came back after finishing the call and looked around for Khushi. He spotted her in a far corner helping someone and smiled to himself. They spent the next few hours getting everything ready to make sure the fashion show went smoothly.

"Sir, there's a problem," one of the assistants came to him and said.

"What happened?" He asked.

"We don't have showstopper for the show, Natasha was supposed to do it, but she no longer works with us," she replied back.

"Don't worry, I have it arranged. Just give me the showstopper's dress," Arnav replied back. The assistant left and came back a few minutes later with the dress, she handed it to him and then got back to work. One of the designers told Khushi to put away something in one of the fitting rooms, so she left to put it away. His eyes searched around for her and saw that she was walking into a room. Arnav followed after her into the room. Khushi put the box away in the corner of the room and felt someone's presence behind her. She turned around and found Arnav standing there, watching her intently.

"Arnav, you here?" She asked walking up to him and noticed the dress in his hands, "And what's with the dress, isn't it suppose to be with the showstopper?"

"Yea, I know that," he said smirking back.

"So why are you here wasting time? Go give it to her so that she can wear it and get it fitted," Khushi said trying to state the obvious.

"And that's why I'm here," Arnav said. Khushi looked around the room to see if someone else was here, but there wasn't other than the two of them. He has officially lost it, she thought.

"Arnav all this tension of the fashion show is probably getting to you, there's no show stopper in here," she said.

"Um yea there is," Arnav replied back smiling, "and she's standing right in front of me."
Khushi took a few seconds to comprehend what he just said and her eyes widened, "Arnav no way!!"

"Khushi, yes way," he said.

"Arnav I'm not going to be the showstopper," Khushi replied back fiercely.
"Khushi you are doing this, and that's final," he said.

"Arnav I can't do this," Khushi said.

"But why not Khushi?" Arnav asked.

"I've never done this before and I know nothing about it," Khushi replied back and turned around to face him, "I'm just not doing it."

"Khushi you promised that you will do anything I ask you to do, and I want you to do this," Arnav said taking a step towards her.

"This isn't fair!!" Khushi retorted back.

"Everything's fair in love and war," Arnav replied back smirking.

"But this isn't love or war!" Khushi replied back.

"You know what I mean, just get ready quickly," Arnav said.

"Ugh! You always get your way!" Khushi said folding her arms across her chest and looking at him with an angry look.

"If I'd always get my way, you'd have no idea what that could lead to," Arnav said with a mischievous look in his eyes.

Before Khushi could reply or say anything, his phone rang. He looked at the screen and it was a call from Maan, he picked it up an answered. Arnav faced the other way to talk with him, "Hey'..ok'.yeah just wait I'll be over there in a minute'..hold on',"

As he was talking into the phone, he had felt slight movement behind him and had known for a fact that Khushi was trying to get away. Without turning back, he grabbed her wrist, making her freeze where she was.

"Ok, bye," he said into the phone and turned it off.

Khushi felt him finish the call and turn around, still having the grasp on her wrist. And the next second, she felt a tug on her wrist, causing her back to clash with his muscled chest. Arnav let go of her wrist and wrapped both of his hands around her waist, he rested his head on her shoulder and inhaled her fragrance. She smelled delightful and fresh. Khushi felt her face beginning to heat up due to his closeness. Her breath was getting ragged while he roamed his lips against her neck, his breath creating havoc inside her body.

"Maan and Geet have arrived and are waiting for me at security, I will go meet them and show them where to sit," Arnav said burying his face further into her hair, "Till then you get changed into the dress sweetheart, I'll be back in a few minutes."

He placed the kiss on her cheek and walked out of the room without looking back; leaving behind a stunned Khushi was still trying to steady her breath.

Chapter 25: How Did That Happen?

"But seems like it was the other way around this time," Khushi said slightly biting her lip.
"Don't do that," Arnav said.

"Don't do wh---," Khushi began say but was immediately cut off as his lips sealed hers. Arnav cupped her face and pulled her closer. Khushi was taken at shock by his actions and tried to pull back but his grip on her didn't let her move. As she gasped for air, he slid his tongue inside her mouth and explored it. Arnav pushed her against the wall that was behind her, placing his body right against her. Khushi could feel a sense of heat building up inside of her while Arnav moved his lips against her jaw line. He placed small kisses along it, making Khushi close her eyes due to the breathlessness.

"Ar..ar..rn..av," she whispered trying to steady her breath.

"What?" He whispered into her ear.

"We s..should g..g..go," Khushi said turning her face slightly looking at him. He moved back and looked at her with a smirk.

"Unbelievable," he muttered then placed his arm around her waist and moved back into the party. They walked around the party, talking to different people and eating food.

"Hey guys," Sheetal said approaching them and standing next to Khushi. Arnav was a bit farther away, talking to a friend of his.

"Here take this," Sheetal said holding up a glass of a drink towards Khushi.

"I don't want any," Khushi replied back politely.

"It's just one; the waiter over there said its just juice. Take it, it won't harm you," Sheetal said and put the glass in Khushi's hand.

"Thanks," Khushi said taking the cup and drinking from it, missing the sinister smile on Sheetal's face. She gulped down the drink in one gulp, since there wasn't a lot of it. She closed her eyes after she was done drinking it. There was something different about this drink, she thought, or maybe it might just be because the juice is just different here. The waiter was walking around with a tray for empty glasses and Khushi placed her glass on there. Khushi touched her head trying to steady herself because she was feeling dizzy.

"Are you fine?" Sheetal asked trying to sound concerned.

"Yea, I just feel a bit dizzy and my head is starting to hurt," Khushi said constantly blinking in an attempt to clear her vision.

"Why don't you take a seat for a little bit," Sheetal said. She placed her hands on Khushi's shoulder and led her to a sofa seat that was in the corner near the entrance. Sheetal had Khushi sit down and said, "Maybe you should rest for a bit."

"Yea maybe, it's probably due to all the noise and everything," Khushi said rubbing her eyes, but that wasn't helping anything. She was starting to feel light headed by the second, and her vision getting blurrier.

"Do you want me to get you something?" Sheetal asked right when she was about to leave from there.

"Uhm yea, if you don't mind, can you please call Arnav over here," Khushi said looking up at her. Sheetal's fake smile fell and she said, "Sure, I will."

Sheetal walked away from her in anger. Why did she have to ruin her plan? But no, she wouldn't let her do that. Sheetal was looking back at Khushi when she bumped into someone.
"Sorry," he said and Sheetal looked up to see it was Arnav.

"No problem," Sheetal said with a smile. Arnav's eyes were wandering around trying to find something and he wasn't paying any attention to her.

"So how have you been?" she asked.

"Good, everything's going well," Arnav said still looking around.

"Want to dance?" Sheetal asked trying her chance again.

"Actually no, but have you seen Khushi?" Arnav asked her.

"Khushi? No I haven't seen her, she must be around here somewhere," Sheetal replied back.

"Yea, I saw her earlier with you, but now I don't know where she went," Arnav said.

"Oh, she told me that she was going to get something to eat, but guess she didn't want to come back to talk to me," Sheetal said attempting to sound offended.

"Sheetal, Khushi isn't like that. She probably go stuck with something or is talking to someone," Arnav told her.

"Yea yea, defend your girlfriend," Sheetal replied back in a lazy tone.

"This is not about that ok?! Yes I'm in a relationship with her, but that doesn't mean I support her only because of that. For the amount of time that I've known her till now, she's nothing like that nor would she try to be mean to others," Arnav said pointing a finger at Sheetal.

"She may not be mean to others, but some people are beginning to be mean to her," Maan said approaching them from a few feet away. Sheetal quickly turned her gaze away, not wanting to make eye contact.

"What do you mean?" Arnav asked.

"Oh nothing, I'll tell you about it later. But for now, Khushi is waiting over there," Maan said motioning towards her direction, "she said she wanted to talk to you."

"Oh, I'll be right back," Arnav said and headed towards Khushi. He made his way through the crowd and sat down next to her.

"Khushi?" he said in concern. She was sitting there with her eyes buried in her palms. He placed his hand on her shoulder and shook her a bit. Khushi felt slight touch on her shoulders and looked up to see Arnav sitting beside her.

"Arnav can we please leave?" Khushi said turning towards him.

"Yea of course. But did someone say something to you? Or did something happen?" He asked.

"No, it's just that I don't feel at all well," she replied back. Arnav got up and helped Khushi up to, she was having trouble with her balance. He took out his phone and texted Maan that they were leaving because Khushi wasn't feeling good. Arnav helped her into the car, buckled her up and drove home. The car drive took longer than expected due to the rush on the roads since it was Christmas.

Arnav kept on looking back at Khushi to make sure she was fine; by the time they had gotten home, she was already sleeping. He didn't want to wake her up or ruin her sleep, so he got out of the car and went to her side. He opened the door and unbuckled her. He smelt a weird and unusual aroma coming from her. He smelled it again and but couldn't recognize it. Putting one hand under her thighs and another behind her back, he lifted Khushi up and carried her to her room. All the servants in the house were already sleeping. He sat Khushi down on the chair in front of her dresser and removed all her jewelry; he had her step out of her heels and also opened up her hair.

He lifted her again and laid her down on the bed. Arnav pulled the comforter on her. He was about to leave the room when he felt tug on his hand. He looked back at it and saw that Khushi was holding his hand in both of hers, while sleeping peacefully. Arnav tried to remove his hand, but after several attempts he gave up. He slid of his shoes, and then took off his tie with the other hand. Arnav slid onto the bed next to Khushi, without making any noise. He looked up t her and saw her sleeping peacefully; his eyes started drowning him in sleep also.
Khushi woke up with a sudden pain in her head. How did she get here in her room? She lazily opened her eye and looked at the time, it was 7 o'clock. She ran a hand through her hair and turned the other way. Khushi put her hand on the pillow trying to make contact with the cold white bed sheets, but instead it made contact with skin. She opened one eye and saw Arnav. She tried to get up, but the weight of his arm around her waist didn't let her move. Her moving around had startled Arnav from his sleep and he also slowly opened his eyes.

"Good morning," he said in a husky voice pulling her closer.

"Good morning," she said cuddling against him. Then reality sunk in, what was he doing here? In her bed? At this time?

Khushi quickly moved back and gawked, "What are you doing here?!" she exclaimed jolting up into a sitting position.

"Sleeping," Arnav replied back causally like it was no big deal.

"In my bed?" Khushi said motioning to the bed. Arnav looked around and realized that in fact it was her room. He remembered the happenings of last night and then looked back at her.

"How are you feeling now?" He asked her also sitting up beside her.

"i don't now, my heads paining a little bit and i don't know why. But what happened?" Khushi asked.

"We left the party early because you weren't feeling well. So I brought you home, and you fell asleep in the car. I picked you up into the room and when I was about to leave, you held my hand and I didn't want to disturb your sleep, so I slept here also," Arnav said.

"I wasn't feeling well?" Khushi asked even more confused. She was trying to think back to what had happened last night.

"Yea you weren't," Arnav said getting out of the bed, "I'll call the servant up to bring some medicine for your headache, till then I'll get ready, then you can get ready."

"Ok, what time to we have to be at office by?" Khushi asked pulling off her comforter and going to stand by the dresser. She noticed that her hair was open, and all he jewelry was lying there nicely.

Chapter 24C: Remember When

"There is and was never anything going on between us. Get that in your head. And if you'll excuse me, I would like to take my girlfriend to dance with me," Arnav replied back.
"Can I have a dance?" Arnav asked looking over at Khushi and she nodded. He took her hand and they made their way to the center of the dance area, leaving behind and angry and furious Sheetal.
When they reached the dance floor, Arnav took Khushi's hand from his side and moved her to the front so they were standing directly opposite on each other. Arnav took one of her hand in his and put the other one on her waist; Khushi put one in his hand and the other on his shoulder. Khushi wasn't really sure what to do and looked up at him. Arnav just pulled her closer and moved her according to the music. The music was mainly bollywood and changed from song to song depending on what the guests wanted.
"Remember I took dance lessons," he said looking down at her and Khushi smiled remembering their dance at the restaurant in India.
"Yes how could I forget? The great Arnav Singh Raizada took secret dance classes," Khushi replied back teasing him. Arnav chuckled at her response and spun her around.
"I'm sorry about Sheetal," Arnav said when she came in his arms again.
"What about her?" Khushi asked.
"The way she was behaving with you so rudely. Like I already said before, there was nothing going on between us at all," Arnav said removing his hand from her and now resting it on her hip. Khushi took her empty hand and moved it, now both her hands were resting on his shoulders.
"I know Arnav, I trust you that much," Khushi said looking into his eyes. Arnav felt a sense of pleasure run through his heart, if it had been any other girl, she probably would've gotten angry at him for the close proximity Sheetal was having with him earlier. But not Khushi. She didn't even once show the anger in her eyes.
"So much trust already Ms. Gupta?" Arnav said.
"Yes Mr. Raizada," Khushi replied back grinning.
"I'll be right back," Arnav said letting go of Khushi, "stay here don't move." Khushi was about to call him back but he had already left. Khushi saw him run over to the corner of the room, where a few guys were standing, he whispered something into their ears and they nodded. Arnav turned back around and came up to her again.
"What was all that?" Khushi asked curiously as he took hold of her hand.
"Nothing," Arnav said moving her to a slow beat.
"What do you mean nothing?! Of course it was something," Khushi said. She was slightly getting irritated that he didn't give her a straight answer. But then on the other hand, when does he ever do that?
"Just wait and watch," he told her. A few seconds passed by, and Khushi was moving her head around making Arnav give her a confused expression.
"What are you doing?" He asked her lifting his eyebrow in confusion, "Who are you looking for?"
"I don't know; you're the one who said 'just wait and watch'" Khushi said to him.
Arnav mentally slapped his forehead, she was taking this literally. He smiled at her then said, "Khushi just wait and listen."
A few seconds later the song stopped and a new one came on. The beginning started with a piano instrumental and carried on. Khushi heard the song and felt like she had heard it somewhere before, but couldn't remember where. Next thing she new Arnav had grasped her hand in his, with a firm hold and began dancing more actively.
"This song is dedicated to Khushi from someone very special," the DJ spoke of the intercom. A few heads who knew her turned towards them and smiled at her. Khushi was surprised and looked up at Arnav, only to find him already looking down at her. She tuned into the lyrics of the song...
tujko dekh kar aankhein muskaraane lagti hai
tujko mil kar dhadkane ghun ghunaaney lagti hai
Khushi moved her glance from his face to just his eyes, and smiled even more. The brown caramel colored eyes were making her melt in his hold. She couldn't be any happier on this day. Khushi moved her hands from his shoulders and wound them around his neck, trying to close the distance between them. Arnav tightened his hold on her waist, bringing her closer. The slowly moved around from side to side dancing to the song he had decided on...
aisa hota hai kyun mujhko khabar nahi...
pehle kabhi hua aisai asar nahi''
jo mere dil ke paas hai nahay jadoo nahay aihsaas hai...
"Like it?" Arnav whispered to Khushi while resting his head against hers. Khushi only nodded and smiled back at him.
"It's very beautiful," she whispered.
"Just like you," Arnav said making her blush a little. He tilted his head to the left a little and kissed her cheek. Khushi gasped at his actions. She tried to push him away, but he just clung to her and hugged her.
"Arnav what are you doing? Everyone is going to be watching," Khushi said.
"No one is watching, they're too busy enjoying. And what's wrong in this? I'm only hugging you'" Arnav said looking back at her.
"You weren't just hugging!" Khushi retorted back quickly. The mischievous look on Arnav made her realize what she had just said.
"Oh Really? Then what were we doing?" Arnav asked lifting and eyebrow.
"Woh'woh'.." Khushi said then looked around not knowing how to answer.
"Laal ho gayi," Arnav said.
"Kya?" she asked turning her face around.
"Tumari naak!" Arnav said flicking her nose. Khushi felt her face turning red and buried her face in his chest hugging him. She could feel the vibration of his laugh from his chest.
"I think I've heard it before though," Khushi said as the song came to an end and finished.
"What?" Arnav asked.
"The song you played for me," she replied back
"Remember when we had dinner at that restaurant once?" Arnav said moving his hand up and down her back.
"When you ruined my dress then tried to make up for it?" Khushi asked smiling.
"Yea that time," he said.
"What about it?" Khushi asked.
"Well I asked you to dance with me'." Arnav started off but couldn't continue. Khushi had quickly pulled away from the hug, making Arnav startled.
"WHAT THE?!" he said looking at her only to find her smiling from ear to ear.
"You remembered the song?!" She exclaimed with happiness overflowing in her eyes. A few head turned towards their directions and she quickly apologized for her sudden outburst. Arnav took her hand and moved to a secluded corner dragging her along with him. He put her against the wall, the hovered over her, his hands on either sides of her face.
"Of course I did, how I could forget," Arnav said, "It was our first dance together'."
"So you thought why not play it again today since I've officially given consent to us," Khushi said completing his sentence for him; the smile still visible on her lips. They were standing in a dark corner of the ball, but the lights were shining from the center of the hall, allowing them to see each other.
"Yup, you guessed it right," Arnav said smirking.
"You sure do know how to please a woman," Khushi said.
"What can I say? Women fall for me," Arnav said winking at her.
"But seems like it was the other way around this time," Khushi said slightly biting her lip.
"Don't do that," Arnav said.
"Don't do wh---," Khushi began say but was immediately cut off as his lips sealed hers.
