Chapter 25: How Did That Happen?

"But seems like it was the other way around this time," Khushi said slightly biting her lip.
"Don't do that," Arnav said.

"Don't do wh---," Khushi began say but was immediately cut off as his lips sealed hers. Arnav cupped her face and pulled her closer. Khushi was taken at shock by his actions and tried to pull back but his grip on her didn't let her move. As she gasped for air, he slid his tongue inside her mouth and explored it. Arnav pushed her against the wall that was behind her, placing his body right against her. Khushi could feel a sense of heat building up inside of her while Arnav moved his lips against her jaw line. He placed small kisses along it, making Khushi close her eyes due to the breathlessness.

"Ar..ar..rn..av," she whispered trying to steady her breath.

"What?" He whispered into her ear.

"We s..should g..g..go," Khushi said turning her face slightly looking at him. He moved back and looked at her with a smirk.

"Unbelievable," he muttered then placed his arm around her waist and moved back into the party. They walked around the party, talking to different people and eating food.

"Hey guys," Sheetal said approaching them and standing next to Khushi. Arnav was a bit farther away, talking to a friend of his.

"Here take this," Sheetal said holding up a glass of a drink towards Khushi.

"I don't want any," Khushi replied back politely.

"It's just one; the waiter over there said its just juice. Take it, it won't harm you," Sheetal said and put the glass in Khushi's hand.

"Thanks," Khushi said taking the cup and drinking from it, missing the sinister smile on Sheetal's face. She gulped down the drink in one gulp, since there wasn't a lot of it. She closed her eyes after she was done drinking it. There was something different about this drink, she thought, or maybe it might just be because the juice is just different here. The waiter was walking around with a tray for empty glasses and Khushi placed her glass on there. Khushi touched her head trying to steady herself because she was feeling dizzy.

"Are you fine?" Sheetal asked trying to sound concerned.

"Yea, I just feel a bit dizzy and my head is starting to hurt," Khushi said constantly blinking in an attempt to clear her vision.

"Why don't you take a seat for a little bit," Sheetal said. She placed her hands on Khushi's shoulder and led her to a sofa seat that was in the corner near the entrance. Sheetal had Khushi sit down and said, "Maybe you should rest for a bit."

"Yea maybe, it's probably due to all the noise and everything," Khushi said rubbing her eyes, but that wasn't helping anything. She was starting to feel light headed by the second, and her vision getting blurrier.

"Do you want me to get you something?" Sheetal asked right when she was about to leave from there.

"Uhm yea, if you don't mind, can you please call Arnav over here," Khushi said looking up at her. Sheetal's fake smile fell and she said, "Sure, I will."

Sheetal walked away from her in anger. Why did she have to ruin her plan? But no, she wouldn't let her do that. Sheetal was looking back at Khushi when she bumped into someone.
"Sorry," he said and Sheetal looked up to see it was Arnav.

"No problem," Sheetal said with a smile. Arnav's eyes were wandering around trying to find something and he wasn't paying any attention to her.

"So how have you been?" she asked.

"Good, everything's going well," Arnav said still looking around.

"Want to dance?" Sheetal asked trying her chance again.

"Actually no, but have you seen Khushi?" Arnav asked her.

"Khushi? No I haven't seen her, she must be around here somewhere," Sheetal replied back.

"Yea, I saw her earlier with you, but now I don't know where she went," Arnav said.

"Oh, she told me that she was going to get something to eat, but guess she didn't want to come back to talk to me," Sheetal said attempting to sound offended.

"Sheetal, Khushi isn't like that. She probably go stuck with something or is talking to someone," Arnav told her.

"Yea yea, defend your girlfriend," Sheetal replied back in a lazy tone.

"This is not about that ok?! Yes I'm in a relationship with her, but that doesn't mean I support her only because of that. For the amount of time that I've known her till now, she's nothing like that nor would she try to be mean to others," Arnav said pointing a finger at Sheetal.

"She may not be mean to others, but some people are beginning to be mean to her," Maan said approaching them from a few feet away. Sheetal quickly turned her gaze away, not wanting to make eye contact.

"What do you mean?" Arnav asked.

"Oh nothing, I'll tell you about it later. But for now, Khushi is waiting over there," Maan said motioning towards her direction, "she said she wanted to talk to you."

"Oh, I'll be right back," Arnav said and headed towards Khushi. He made his way through the crowd and sat down next to her.

"Khushi?" he said in concern. She was sitting there with her eyes buried in her palms. He placed his hand on her shoulder and shook her a bit. Khushi felt slight touch on her shoulders and looked up to see Arnav sitting beside her.

"Arnav can we please leave?" Khushi said turning towards him.

"Yea of course. But did someone say something to you? Or did something happen?" He asked.

"No, it's just that I don't feel at all well," she replied back. Arnav got up and helped Khushi up to, she was having trouble with her balance. He took out his phone and texted Maan that they were leaving because Khushi wasn't feeling good. Arnav helped her into the car, buckled her up and drove home. The car drive took longer than expected due to the rush on the roads since it was Christmas.

Arnav kept on looking back at Khushi to make sure she was fine; by the time they had gotten home, she was already sleeping. He didn't want to wake her up or ruin her sleep, so he got out of the car and went to her side. He opened the door and unbuckled her. He smelt a weird and unusual aroma coming from her. He smelled it again and but couldn't recognize it. Putting one hand under her thighs and another behind her back, he lifted Khushi up and carried her to her room. All the servants in the house were already sleeping. He sat Khushi down on the chair in front of her dresser and removed all her jewelry; he had her step out of her heels and also opened up her hair.

He lifted her again and laid her down on the bed. Arnav pulled the comforter on her. He was about to leave the room when he felt tug on his hand. He looked back at it and saw that Khushi was holding his hand in both of hers, while sleeping peacefully. Arnav tried to remove his hand, but after several attempts he gave up. He slid of his shoes, and then took off his tie with the other hand. Arnav slid onto the bed next to Khushi, without making any noise. He looked up t her and saw her sleeping peacefully; his eyes started drowning him in sleep also.
Khushi woke up with a sudden pain in her head. How did she get here in her room? She lazily opened her eye and looked at the time, it was 7 o'clock. She ran a hand through her hair and turned the other way. Khushi put her hand on the pillow trying to make contact with the cold white bed sheets, but instead it made contact with skin. She opened one eye and saw Arnav. She tried to get up, but the weight of his arm around her waist didn't let her move. Her moving around had startled Arnav from his sleep and he also slowly opened his eyes.

"Good morning," he said in a husky voice pulling her closer.

"Good morning," she said cuddling against him. Then reality sunk in, what was he doing here? In her bed? At this time?

Khushi quickly moved back and gawked, "What are you doing here?!" she exclaimed jolting up into a sitting position.

"Sleeping," Arnav replied back causally like it was no big deal.

"In my bed?" Khushi said motioning to the bed. Arnav looked around and realized that in fact it was her room. He remembered the happenings of last night and then looked back at her.

"How are you feeling now?" He asked her also sitting up beside her.

"i don't now, my heads paining a little bit and i don't know why. But what happened?" Khushi asked.

"We left the party early because you weren't feeling well. So I brought you home, and you fell asleep in the car. I picked you up into the room and when I was about to leave, you held my hand and I didn't want to disturb your sleep, so I slept here also," Arnav said.

"I wasn't feeling well?" Khushi asked even more confused. She was trying to think back to what had happened last night.

"Yea you weren't," Arnav said getting out of the bed, "I'll call the servant up to bring some medicine for your headache, till then I'll get ready, then you can get ready."

"Ok, what time to we have to be at office by?" Khushi asked pulling off her comforter and going to stand by the dresser. She noticed that her hair was open, and all he jewelry was lying there nicely. If she was asleep last night when they got home, that means she couldn't have taken it all off, leaving her Arnav being the only person to do that. She looked up at him with questioning eyes.

"The fashion show starts at 7, we have to be in office by 2 for final rehearsal and everything," he said smiling and motioned at the dresser, "And yea, I did all that." He said and walked out of the room after winking at her.
